SUMMARY:Lunch seminar: Changing software-intensive business with ecosystems
DESCRIPTION:Most welcome to the next Software Center lunch seminar on May 2nd. The seminar is hosted by theme 4 (‘Customer Data and Ecosystems’)\, and we have the privilege to welcome Dr. Sami Hyrynsalmi\, LUT as our speaker. \nSpeaker: Dr. Sami Hyrynsalmi\, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT in Lahti\, Finland \nDuring the last decade\, ecosystems become a new standard way of working for businesses. Instead of working alone\, companies are working together in loose networks for adding their strengths together. Yet\, ecosystems still pose a number of open questions. This presentation takes a look on two rather different cases. The first part covers the ‘ecosystem health’ metaphor\, its problems\, and possible solutions. The second part takes a look how the ecosystem approach could perhaps be utilized in the data economy as a way to create new revenue out of existing data. \nDr. Sami Hyrynsalmi works as an Associate Professor of Software Engineering in Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT in Lahti\, Finland. He received a degree of Doctor of Science from University of Turku in 2014 and was granted the Title of Docent in Software Production and Business from the same university in 2020. Currently\, he leads a Master’s Program on Software Product Management and Business in Lahti and acts as the vice-head of the Software Engineering Department. His research interests cover software business\, especially software ecosystems and understanding the business potential of emerging technologies. \n__________________________________________________________ \nMicrosoft Teams meeting \nJoin on your computer or mobile app \nClick here to join the meeting \nOr call in (audio only) \n+46 8 505 252 11\,\,672998151#   Sweden\, Stockholm \nPhone Conference ID: 672 998 151# \nFind a local number | Reset PIN \nLearn More | Meeting options \n__________________________________________________________

SUMMARY:Lunch seminar: Modeling and Engineering Beyond Narrow AI
DESCRIPTION:Very welcome to the Software Center lunch seminar organized by the AI Engineering theme. We have a special guest speaker this time\, Dr. Bernhard Moser\, who is the research director of the Software Competence Center in Hagenberg\, Austria: \nTitle: Modeling and Engineering Beyond Narrow AI at SCCH   \nSpeaker: Dr. Bernhard A. Moser\, Research Director\, Software Competence Center Hagenberg GmbH\, Hagenberg\, Austria \nToday’s machine intelligence is driven by the Big Data paradigm. Despite its success in recent years\, there are severe limitations for a broader scope of applicability.  We outline two directions beyond these limitations: First\, there is the problem of limited data\, which requires transfer learning to compensate for the lack of data by extracting knowledge from trained models in a similar but different setting.  Second\, there is the problem of limited semantics and contextualization of a pure statistical approach which calls for integrating linked data and relational machine learning. In this context we discuss application scenarios\, challenges and progress from ongoing research at SCCH. \nReferences: \n\nFischer\, L. Ehrlinger\, V. Geist\, R. Ramler\, F. Sobiezky\, W. SUMMARY:Lunch seminar: Test Environments for Large-Scale Software Systems
DESCRIPTION:Title: Test Environments for Large-Scale Software Systems – Intrinsic and Extrinsic Success Factors \nSpeaker: Torvald Mårtensson\, Saab AB (Software Center Project #6) \nAbstract: Based on a study including five Software Center companies\, this talk presents intrinsic and extrinsic success factors\, critical for successful implementations of test environments for large-scale and complex software systems. We find that successful implementations of test environments for large-scale software systems depend primarily on how they support the company’s business strategy\, test organization and product testability (the extrinsic success factors). Based on this\, test environments can then be optimized to improve test environment capabilities\, usability and stability (the intrinsic success factors). Furthermore\, this talk will show how challenges in the test environment are to a great extent related to hardware systems\, even though all five case study companies describe themselves as software companies. Finally\, we will describe how test environments are a vital part of the continuous integration and delivery pipeline\, and must evolve in the same way as new test cases are continuously added to the pipeline. A clear responsibility for this continuously ongoing task (central or distributed) seems to be crucial for successful implementations of efficient and effective test environments for large-scale software systems. \n____________________________________________________________ \nMicrosoft Teams-möte \nJobba på datorn eller mobilappen \nKlicka här för att ansluta till mötet \nEller ring in (endast ljud) \n+46 8 505 323 41\,\,218351957#   Sweden\, Stockholm \nTelefonkonferens-ID: 218 351 957# \n____________________________________________________________

SUMMARY:Lunch seminar: Modern use of control dependency in static program analysis
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the next Software Center lunch seminar hosted by theme 2! \nTitle: The modern use of control dependency in static program analysis \nSpeaker: Abu Naser Masud\, Mälardalen University \nControl dependency (CD) is a fundamental concept used in many program analysis techniques such as program slicing\, debugging\, parallelization\, software testing\, detecting security leaks\, etc. Since the introduction of CD in the late eighties\, numerous extensions of the standard definition and computation methods have been developed over time to deal with the modern programming language constructs. In this talk\, I will discuss the most generalized version of control dependency\, namely weak and strong control closure\, and their implication in static program analysis. I will showcase how these concepts can be used in program slicing and detecting timing leaks (a security vulnerability) in modern software. \nMost welcome to the seminar and please share this invitation with your colleagues! \n____________________________________________________________\nMicrosoft Teams-möte \nJobba på datorn eller mobilappen \nKlicka här för att ansluta till mötet \nEller ring in (endast ljud) \n+46 8 505 218 36\,\,214060663#   Sweden\, Stockholm \nTelefonkonferens-ID: 214 060 663# \nHitta ett lokalt nummer | Återställ PIN-kod \nLäs mer | Mötesalternativ \n____________________________________________

SUMMARY:How to succeed with communicating software metrics in the organization?
DESCRIPTION:This week we have project #37 giving a talk about How to succeed with communicating software metrics in the organization? – Five questions for managers \nSpeaker: Aleksandre Asatiani from University of Gothenburg. \nWhile software metrics are indispensable for quality assurance\, using metrics in practice is far from uncomplicated. Implementing and executing metrics are challenging tasks as it is difficult to manage the technical and human aspects of the software measurement. Based on the data from four companies\, the study identifies several bottlenecks in the process of metrics implementation and communication\, suggesting key questions managers should ask to help them success in the process. The findings also highlight the importance of trust\, control\, and transparency in communication between developers and management\, emphasizing the paramount role of an effective communication process for decision making\, based on metrics. \n__________________________________________ \nMicrosoft Teams meeting \nJoin on your computer or mobile app \nClick here to join the meeting \nLearn More | Meeting options \n__________________________________________
