SUMMARY:Lunch Seminar: Refinery: Automated Generation of Consistent and Diverse Domain-specific Graph Models
DESCRIPTION:Title: \nRefinery: Automated Generation of Consistent and Diverse Domain-specific Graph Models \nSpeaker: Professor Daniel Varro\, Linköping university \nAbstract: \nWhen engineering complex software systems\, knowledge representations often take the form of domain-specific graph models. For instance\, the system architecture in automotive or avionics applications are captured by standardized models. Moreover\, tool qualification as necessitated by safety standards require a large and diverse set of consistent graphs as test cases or design candidates tailored to the application domain. Furthermore\, system-level testing of autonomous vehicles may also rely on synthetic test contexts and abstract test scenarios captured as graphs. In this talk\, I present the conceptual foundations and a short demo of the open-source Refinery framework\, which can automatically derive a diverse set of consistent domain-specific graph models from a high-level domain specification and consistency constraints. As shown by extensive experimental evaluation\, Refinery can generate significantly larger and more diverse graphs than state-of-the-art solver-based model generators.

SUMMARY:New product/service development and innovation: PdM community workshop
DESCRIPTION:we would like to welcome you to a PdM community workshop on the topic of new product/service development and innovation including the following topics: \n\nHow to organize for innovation in large organizations?\nHow to effectively allocate resources for innovation initiatives?\nHow to work with prototyping in early-stage development of new products/services?\nHow to continuously validate with customers?\n\nThe purpose of the workshop is to engage in a discussion around these topics to learn from each other\, exchange best practices and discuss tactics and strategies for how to address challenges and leverage the benefits of innovation. \nAs a starting-point for our discussions\, Jan and myself will present our view on innovation\, and the importance of this in an increasingly competitive business environment\, based on what we learnt from our company engagements this sprint. After this\, we ask each involved company to prepare a short presentation on one (or several) of the topics listed above. The presentation should be in a few Powerpoint slides that can also be shared among participants after the workshop (and for this you can “clean” the presentation and remove any potentially sensitive material if you wish). \nThe workshop is planned for November 15th   between 10:00 – 15:00 and the location is on-site at Lindholmen in Gothenburg. \nOur intention is to provide limited participation online for those that cannot make it to Gothenburg. However\, the workshop is planned as an on-site event meaning that the online experience will be subpar to joining in person. If you still wish to participate online please inform us beforehand so that we can arrange with this. \nMost welcome and please help us share this invite with people in your organization that you think would be interested in joining us! \n  \nKind regards\, \nHelena and Jan

Their first large scale application (completions in GitHub Copilot) helps developers by suggesting snippets in their current file.\n\nBut a source file is to software what a brick is to a house. A single one does nothing\, and even many together don’t hold it up alone. So applications of generative AI for development are getting ever more ambitious:\n– taking in context from the whole repository\,\n– considering artefacts of its evolution like issues\, commits and pull requests\,\n– reading documentation and running code.\n\nI will examine which kinds of challenges this presents to the AI designers: how to gather context\, how to present it to the model\, and how to control the output. And I will discuss which kinds of opportunities this presents to software developers: how this will impact their workflow\, and how to make sure it’s for the better.\n\nCybersecurity challenges and practices: Keynote presentation by Patrik Åkesson\, Vice President R&D at Advenica\nDemocracies are under increasing attack in the cyber-security landscape – by organized crime looking for short-term profits\, and nation-state backed agressors looking to further their political agendas and to de-stablilize our society. The intelligence community warns that hybrid warfare is the new normal\, and that cyber-attacks are targeting all segments of society\, including private companies. The EUs response Is Cybersecurity legislation – legislation targeting different sectors\, and legislation targeting any product that contains software. How will this affect companies building or distributing products that contain software?”\n * Birds-of-a-feather session: \nAn informal discussion group\, typically at a conference\, based on a shared interest and without any fixed agenda.

SUMMARY:CAIN conference
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to CAIN’23 – 2nd International Conference on AI Engineering – Software Engineering for AI\nWe are committed to providing you with a unique online and onsite experience. Therefore\, CAIN’23 will take place in Melbourne on May 20th and online on May 15-16th. \nThe aim of CAIN’23 is to bring together researchers and practitioners in software engineering\, in data-science and AI\, and to build up a community that will target the new challenges emerging in Software Engineering for AI-enabled systems. \nIn development and implementation of AI-enabled systems\, the main challenge is not to develop the best models/algorithms\, but to provide support for the entire lifecycle – from a business idea\, through collection\, training\, and management of data\, code development\, product deployment and operation\, and its maintenance and evolution. There is a clear need for specific support of Software Engineering for AI. \nCAIN has the following goals for the next few years. \n\nIdentify the main challenges of AI engineering\, from an AI and SE perspective\, considering industrial needs and their current experiences;\nCreate a roadmap capturing the research directions in AI engineering in relation to AI-based systems lifecycle;\nContribute to a better understating of practical problems and understanding differences in approaches of data science and AI/ML and SE;\nIdentify industrial challenges in building and using AI-enabled systems and contribute to solving them\nBuild a thriving community of SE\, and data-science and AI practitioners and researchers.\n\nCAIN’23 will have all sessions in a single track. The following sessions are planned: \n\nInvited keynotes and panels\nPresentation of accepted papers\nIndustrial Talks\nPoster presentations\n\nStay tuned for more information:\nhttps://conf.researchr.org/home/cain-2023 \n
